Unconsciously we may find ourselves wanting to believe that some wizard will appear to make us ready, or that a fairy godmother would magically come to our bedside as we sleep, to waive her wand and sprinkle us with fairy dust. We may be waiting for some one on a white horse or we may be looking for a princess to turn us into a prince. We may be waiting for a cosmic event in the heavens to declare, “You are ready”. We may find ourselves sitting on the same corner, on the same street in the same town hoping that some one will stop and point us in the right direction before we get involved with our dreams. Many of our magical beliefs can be traced to fairy tales that we were exposed to at an early age. Magical thinking and magical beliefs can sabotage and undermine our lives and our dreams. Fairy tales are merely fairy tales, nothing more. Unless we take our lives seriously and get involved with our dreams, we may wake up one morning to find that we no longer have a life to live.
In my experience dreams fulfilled are the result of small beginnings that grew with time. My determination to succeed in the face of disappointment propelled me forward. My commitment and dedication motivated me to get up more times than I fell down. My tenacity encouraged me to persevere through emotional and physical pain and to look for solutions. My persistence broke down the walls of doubt and helped me to believe in the process. Encouragement ushered me for ward to my goal. Empowerment gave me the tools to overcome my fear. Hope provided courage to keep me moving when I did not see the fruit of my labor. Faith showed me that I did not have to be a victim to my circumstances.
You may say, yes but. When you get tired of butting yourself, please remember several truths. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. If you don’t give up on yourself, and you keep moving in the direction of your dreams, you will eventually be able to look back and see how far you have come. If you don’t start, you won’t finish. If you are faced with very big obstacle, don’t give up on yourself. Move the mountain one shovel at a time. Celebrate your small successes, because they are the foundation upon you will build your tomorrow. Learn to crawl before you walk. Learn to walk before you run. And when you are able to run, keep moving in the direction of your dreams.
So Dream Big, Dream Very Big and Get Busy.
